Excellent cover band The Ship Inn, Worplesdon on Fri 18th Mar 11

The Ship is my local and is trying hard to revive its fortunes and there have been several attempts to promote some live music, with mixed results.

The one thing I can honestly say about Highside is 'BRILLIANT'! They have to be one of the best cover bands I have seen/heard anywhere, and as a former club steward and avid rock rock fan, I have seen many.

While there were some slight technical issues in the first half of their very well balanced set, these were soon remedied, and the place was positively 'bouncing' to the extent that even some of the regulars, who (unfortunately) do not love rock music, were whistling applause and calling out for more.

Even with my sometimes very critical ear, some of the songs the band performed were truly outstanding, especially their versions of "Wanted, Dead Or Alive" and "Don't Believe A Word", although, I have to say, there was not one bad performance all evening.

Do yourselves a favour and make a date in your diary to come and see them for yourselves when they return to The Ship on the 22nd of April. I'm looking forward to it already.

Rock on guys.

Excellent Live Rock Band The Ship Inn, Worplesdon on Fri 18th Mar 11

This has been one of the best gigs we have had in The Ship Inn for years! The lead guitarist and lead singing of the band really did shine though and the rest of the band complemented them superbly! The interaction between band and audience brought nothing but good reviews!

The band managed successfully to put their own spin on 'Hound Dog' and 'Mustang Sally' to name but two, and were quite happy to have a go at any song requested by the audience.

The evening was so successful I have been bombarded with requests to get them back! As a venue working hard to bring back live music to our pub on Friday nights, this band have been one of the best ambassadors in contributing towards that goal.

Bands like 'Highside' need more support and encouragement from live music lovers, like ourselves and - credit given where credit due - I will not hesitate to re-book them.

See you soon guys and thank you very much!

The Ship Inn.

Unbelievable The Silver Birch, Bracknell on Sat 5th Mar 11

Firstly, I must commend this site for enabling us to go and see this superb band. The Silver Birch is not our usual "drinking hole", but after visiting the Lemonrock site and listening to the MP3s of this band, we had to go and see if they were really as good as they sounded.

I can honestly swear that they were even better and my friends and I were absolutely blown away by Highside. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to hear such a great band and all for FREE! The lead singer is superb, but the whole band are great musicians. The set they played was first class, and included great classics like 'Ace of Spades', 'Tie Your Mother Down', and many, many more.

My only criticism is that the gig ended too soon and that we were left wanting more, more, more!

I, for one, can't wait to see them again! Well done guys - you really rocked it tonight.
